Toronto business chamber President Gail Ryan has described 2010 as a “year of accomplishment” for the town.

“Incredibly, there has been a 300% increase in membership of the chamber,” Ms Ryan said.

“The Positive People in Business Breakfasts continue to grow in popularity as it is a wonderful opportunity to network and develop with business peers and the chamber has systemised office procedures, acquired more effective computer networks, built a brand new CMA website, introduced the WOW award which is given to businesses that are making a difference to their customers with excellent service.”

She said the Chamber has also held several business workshops which included initiatives such as training and development, and held a successful forum on social media.

“The women networking afternoon teas have also been a big hit with local business women.”

“The town survey has now been completed and we are waiting on the results and we are happy to say we are networking with Lake Macquarie Business Centre and other commercial areas for the benefit of all members,” she said.

Over the past year the Chamber has had six volunteers helping out, two of whom have gone on to win awards.”

Ms Ryan said the chamber hosted Lake Macquarie City Council’s new branding strategy, as well as erecting new street flags for the occasion, being the first town centre to comply with the new strategies.
